The AVON River is swirling along at breakneck speed.

TODAY’S ADVENTURE: After a hiatus of 3 months due to a little medical blip, I am back happily driving myself around the countryside.

JAM FACT: I like being out and about.

Whilst MY J does an excellent job of driving me around when I am out of driving action, I have to confess that I do like to be the one in the driving seat.

I’m sure MY J appreciates the fact he now doesn’t have to drive me around too. I reckon my front seat driving quips are not always as helpful as I think they are, if the many frowns I spied out of the corner of my eye are anything to go by.

I celebrated the ‘I can drive again’ situation by heading into town today for a bit of a social outing which included a lovely lunch plus a special long black at my favourite cafe. I then did a stroll up the main street and I was saddened to see that in the 3 months since I had been to town, two shops have been forced to close due to a lack of customers.

So in the spirit of trying to keep the other main street shops alive, I headed into a few and spent some dollars which they were very pleased to receive. This wet and wintry weather seems to keep people at home and with an increase in online spending perhaps happening too they said it was “quiet times.”  I will return again with my purse in hand before the month is out because I would not like it one little bit, if my country town lost its vibe.

In the meantime I will be planning an outing for ‘down the hill’ and into Perth itself very soon. So get ready my city friends because this little UNYOUNG JAM is back in the driving seat and is definitely back into socialising action.

Until next time…a favourite Brigitte Bardot quote of mine and very apt for me at this point in time is: “It is sad to grow old but it is nice to ripen.”

Love this quote from my Main Street Northam Florist billboard.
